Notice: Replacing fire alarm panel in Stauffer Library Wednesday February 22

Post Date:
Feb 16, 2017

On Wednesday February 22 between 8 am and 5 pm the fire alarm panel in Stauffer Library will be replaced.

In order to do this the accessible rotunda entrance will need to be temporarily closed between approximately 8:15 am and 3:30 pm.

A fire watch will also be in effect until the new fire alarm panel is tested and verified as fully operational. If a fire should occur during the fire watch period, air horns will be sounded repeatedly to alert building occupants of a fire and to signal that they should begin an evacuation.

At approximately 2:30 pm, the crews will begin to perform audible testing of the new fire alarm panel. The alarm will need to be sounded briefly and intermittently over the course of the testing period (30 – 60 minutes). Once the new panel is verified as fully operational, the fire watch will end.

For those who are on campus looking for silent study, we would recommend that you consider making use of some of our other great library spaces.

Please direct any questions about this planned work to Physical Plant Services at extension 77301 or by email.
