Queen's University Library

Document Services

The Bracken Library Document Services team provides eligible users with loans of books not held in Queen's University libraries, and with copies of journal articles and book chapters. Copyright restrictions apply to all materials requested. Queen's University faculty, staff and students are eligible for document delivery services.

Book loans are free of charge. The normal loan period is two weeks. You will be telephoned when your book arrives. Books must be picked up and returned to the Document Services Office during regular working hours, Monday to Friday. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day, per book.

There is a $3.00 charge for each article or chapter copy. This charge may be paid by cash/cheque/debit/VISA or account code. Articles to be paid by cash or cheque will be placed at the Bracken Library Circulation Desk for pickup. Most articles are available within 1 to 3 business day.

When articles are paid by account code, the charge will be billed monthly and the articles will be mailed to your campus address.

Please consult with the Document Services staff if you have particular needs or queries relating to your order (613-533-3039).

The document delivery paper request form is available at the Document Services Office. Orders can also be placed electronically. To ensure speedy processing, the forms should be filled in with complete and accurate information. If you do not have all the required information, please ask a Reference Librarian to help you. The Reference Desk can be reached at 533-3176 Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., or by sending an email to bracken.library@queensu.ca.

After selecting citations (one or more) to be ordered, click on the action button "Order".
