Services for Health Science Graduate Students

For graduate students in Medicine, Nursing, Rehabilitation Therapy and the Life Sciences, Bracken Health Sciences Library offers a variety of services to support research efforts such as individualized assistance with literature searching and using information resources, group workshops and online tutorials, and Document Services to obtain full-text publications. This brochure provides an overview of services.

Librarian Consultations

Probably the largest part of a graduate student's work is research oriented which should always include a good review of the literature but it's not always obvious where or how to start, what resources to consult, and how to make the most out of those resources. Bracken librarians are experts in the literature searching process and can help you with any step along the way. To schedule a consultation, simply complete the electronic form.

Workshops

For some of the "big" topics that large numbers are interested in, we frequently schedule hands-on or discussion sessions. Please take a look at our current schedule of workshops.

Online Tutorials

In addition to one-on-one and group sessions to support your use of information resources and the literature search process, we have a variety of online tutorials and guides. If you think there is something we should have listed there, please send us your suggestion.

Grad students may be particularly interested in the following guides: Bracken Library Resources for Health Sciences Research and Research Data Management at Queen's University.

Document Services

Bracken Library subscribes to a large and increasing number of journals and books online and easily accessible. However, for those documents that you can't find online or that we don't have in our collection at all, our staff will endeavour to find them for you. For more detailed information and links to forms, please go to the Bracken Document Services page.
