Can Alumni borrow from the Library?

The Library's mission is to support the teaching and research programs of Queen's University. While the Library's primary function is to provide collections and services to the Queen's community, alumni and local area residents and visitors are welcome to come into the libraries at Queen's and use the facilities.

Can I borrow a USB key, a network cable, ... ?

Yes! Different Library locations have different items available for 3 hour loan. Some examples: USB keys, network cables, calculators, headphones, mice, chargers. Search QCAT for items held by different libraries, or ask at the Circulation Desk.

Can I borrow audio / visual equipment?

Yes you can. Check here to see a description of multimedia facilities available in each campus library.

You can also borrow from the Queen's University AMS Student Government.

Can I borrow video and film from other Ontario Universities?

If you unable to locate a video or film in QCAT, you may be able to borrow through the Ontario Universities Interfilm Service. Use Queen's Audio Visual Equipment Services to search, request and borrow films.

Can I eat food and drink beverages in the library?

The general policy of Queen's University Library is to allow food and drink within reason and small quantities, with the exception of Library areas housing special print collections and/or computer equipment.

Can I pick up books at any library on campus?

Yes. Queen's Library offers an all-library book retrieval service, where students, faculty and staff can request that material on the shelf in one campus library be sent to another campus library for pickup by the requestor. Placing a request is easy! Check here for instructions.

Can I print from my own laptop?

Yes, you can!

Can I put up posters or other promotional materials in the library?

Posters and other promotional display materials are subject to the regulations listed under the Temporary Signs section of the Queen's University Signage Policy. Check with the circulation desk at the campus library where you wish to post your materials.
