Library Advisory Committee for the Humanities & Social Sciences
Terms of Reference
To provide a forum for effective communication between the Library and the Humanities and Social Sciences community at Queen's University specifically by,
- Providing a forum to discuss Library collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- Providing a forum to explore information literacy and the ways in which information literacy programs can continue to be developed in the Library and Queen's Learning Commons and integrated in the curriculum
- Providing a forum for discussion, review and advice on other planned library services in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- Acting as a liaison body between the Senate Library Committee, the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Arts and Science, and faculty and students engaged in work in the Humanities and Social Sciences
Membership
- All librarians with collections and information literacy liaison responsibilities in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- All departmental library representatives in the Humanities and Social Sciences
- Head, Learning & Research Services, Stauffer Library
- Coordinator for Collection Development
- Head, Academic Services Division
- 2 Library Technicians
- Undergraduate student in the Humanities
- Graduate student in the Humanities
- Undergraduate student in the Social Sciences
- Graduate student in the Social Sciences
Meetings and Communication
- The Chair will call meetings as needed, but not less than once per year; sub-groups for particular topic areas may be formed and meet as needed.
- Visitors may be invited depending on the committee's agenda.
- Minutes of meetings will be prepared and distributed to all members, visitors and the University Librarian and, they will be posted on a web site.
- An annual report will be prepared and forwarded to the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science, Chair, Faculty Board of the Faculty of Arts and Science, relevant department heads, the University Librarian, and the Chair, Senate Library Committee.
