Advocacy

Litigator* - A new product from Westlaw Canada that contains Precedent Galleries (Canadian court documents, including motions, pleadings, and facta), Quantums (to help determine award ranges), Commentary, and directories. *Access restricted to the Law Library.

Supreme Court of Canada Factums - Linked to Supreme Court Case Information, these factums are freely available from February 2009 onward.

World Trials Library (HeinOnline) - Trial transcripts and other critical court documents, and also trial-related resources such as monographs which analyze and debate the decisions of famous trials. It also includes biographies of many of the greatest trial lawyers in history. This collection delivers previously hard-to-obtain historical content.

Charter of Rights

Charter of Rights in Litigation Case Digests - contains summaries of Charter cases heard by the Supreme Court of Canada that are linked to the full-text decisions. This database is browsable, or it can be searched by Charter section, Charter issue, case name or citation, or date range. 

Constitutional

World Constitutions Illustrated (from Hein Online)- contains the current constitution for every country and substantial constitutional histories of the United Kingdom, France, and other countries. It also has more than 800 classic books about constitutional law, with specific chapters tied to specific countries, links to scholarly articles about constitutional development and to online resources related to political development, and a bibliography of selected constitutional books. 

Criminal

Encyclopedia of Law Enforcement - This searchable e-book discusses all aspects of American law enforcement on the state and local, federal and national, and international stages. It includes discussions on the practice and theory of policing in an historical and contemporary framework.

World Encyclopedia of Police Forces and Correctional Systems - This searchable e-book describes the national law enforcement and correctional systems of more than 195 countries.

Crime and Punishment in America - This searchable e-book covers the evolution of the American criminal justice system. The Almanac (volumes 1 & 2) examines key topics. Biographies (v. 3) includes entries on important figures. Primary Sources (v. 4) contains many documents, from the Sherman Antitrust Law and the Harrison Narcotic Drug Act to Eleanor Roosevelt's letter against lynching and the Report on Lawlessness in Law Enforcement.

Wrongful Dismissal Database Online - A database of over 2700 Canadian wrongful dismissal cases. Select the relevant key factors — jurisdiction, age, occupation, and years of service — and it will show you what the courts have awarded in similar circumstances by displaying cases that meet the criteria, the notice period awarded in each, plus the overall average. 

Family Law

Family Law Reports - The U.K. Family Law Reports (FLRs) from Jordan Publishing. Comprehensive coverage from 1975 onward (and selective coverage before that date).

Government

Human Rights

Canadian Human Rights Reporter Online - Since 1980 CHRR has published decisions of boards of inquiry, tribunals and courts from all jurisdictions, as well as the decisions on appeals which flow from them. Many of the decisions published by CHRR are not available from any other publication. Human rights legislation from all jurisdictions is also published by CHRR. 

International Law

Customary International Humanitarian Law Database (International Committee of the Red Cross) - This free database is divided into two parts.  Part I offers a comprehensive analysis of the customary rules of IHL deemed applicable to international and non-international armed conflict.  Part II contains a summary of state practice relating to most aspects of IHL, as expressed in national legislation, military manuals, official statements and case law, and the practice of entities such as international organizations and international courts and tribunals.

Foreign & International Law Resources Database (HeinOnline) -  This wide-ranging database of international yearbooks & periodicals, U.S. law digests, international tribunal and judicial decisions, and other significant works.

International Law Library (from Wordlii.org) - This free database includes over 25,000 decisions of international courts and tribunals, over 30,000 treaties and international agreements (including the League of Nations and UN Treaty Series), international law journals, and law reform materials.  The LawCite citator tracks where international cases, treaties, and law journal articles have been cited.

International Law Video Library - This is a free, internet-based teaching tool that allows viewers to see interviews with leading scholars and practitioners in the domain of international law as well as 'visit' locations relevant to international law.

Philip C. Jessup Library (HeinOnline) - contains the ILSA law journals and the Philip Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Compendium.

United Nations Official Document System (ODS) Contains two databases: U.N. documentation (1993 - present, with selected earlier coverage) and U.N. Resolutions (1946 - present). Full text in all official languages of the United Nations.

Periodical Indexes, Periodicals & Texts

Hein Online Journal Law Journal Library - contains more than 1,200 law and law-related periodicals. Coverage is from the first issue published for all periodicals and goes up to the most current issue allowed based on contracts with publishers.

Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals ( through HeinOnline) - provides access to legal literature worldwide, covering all forms of foreign (non-Anglo-American) law. This includes comparative law and legal systems, such as Islamic law; socialist law; public and private international law; and transnational commercial law. The data is not limited by country of publication, but rather by type of publication. Thus, while publications concerning British and American law are not included, British and American publications concerning foreign law are included.

Index to Legal Periodicals (1981-) - the most complete index of English language legal information with international coverage and access to scholarly articles, symposia, jurisdictional surveys, court decisions, legislation, books, book reviews, and more.

Index to Legal Periodicals Retrospective (1908-1981) - indexes over 750 legal periodicals published in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. It also includes annual surveys of the laws of a jurisdiction, annual surveys of the federal courts, yearbooks, annual institutes, and annual reviews of the work in a given field.

Law Reform Database (British Columbia Law Institute - freely available) - contains over 7000 records and is current to December 2010. Each record describes a discrete publication of one of the law-reform agencies in Canada, the Commonwealth of Nations, or the United States.

Legal Classics Library (via Hein Online) - selected prominent historical legal texts by authors such as William Blackstone, Roscoe Pound, and Jeremy Bentham.

Legal Trac Journal Index - indexes scholarly articles, symposia, jurisdictional surveys, court decisions, legislation, books, book reviews, and more.

Ontario Law Reform Commission Final Reports - All final reports of the Ontario Law Reform Commission are digitized and available on the Internet Archive.

Scott Index to Canadian Legal Periodical Literature (free) [and select "Periodical articles and Case Comments (Scott Index)"] - provided by the Barreau du Québec's Centre d’accès à l’information juridique (CAIJ), this index covers articles and case comments from 1998 onward.

Source documents includes Australian, New Zealand and Pacific law journals, and selected articles from major law journals from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
