WorldCat, Oxford English Dictionary, and Grove Dictionary of Art -- Now Accessible Online at Queen's

Three substantive reference resources, at least two of which frequently have been requested by Queen's researchers, are now available campus-wide via the Web as a result of new Library subscriptions which became active this month:

  • WorldCat   --   http://firstsearch.oclc.org/fsip?dbname=worldcat
"One stop shopping" to searching the holdings of thousands of research libraries around the world.
More information is available at: http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/

  • OED Online   --   http://dictionary.oed.com/entrance.dtl
The new Web edition of the Oxford English Dictionary launched in March 2000 and updated quarterly; contains the complete text of the 20-volume Second Edition (1989) together with its 3-volume Additions Series (1993-1997) and subsequent revisions. Supersedes the CD-ROM product formerly available only at designated Library workstations.   More information is available at: http://dictionary.oed.com/help/

  • Grove Dictionary of Art ("groveart.com")   --   http://www.groveart.com/
Online version of the 34-volume print publication, plus constant additions and updates as well as over 22,000 links to important art images in galleries and museums around the world and all the search advantages possible with an online reference source.   More information is available at: http://www.macmillanonline.net/art/grove/index.htm

Note:
Access to WorldCat, OED Online, and groveart.com is restricted to the Queen's community.   Off-campus access for faculty, staff and students who connect to the Internet through a non-Queen's Internet service is available via the Queen's Webproxy Service.
