Canadian Education Index: New Format, Extended Coverage, Campus-wide Access on the WinSPIRS/WebSPIRS Network

The former Canadian Education Index has been revamped and reissued as a new, CD-ROM product under the name: Canadian Business & Current Affairs (CBCA) Fulltext Education. Queen's Education Library has purchased a 4-user network license to the database and it now is mounted on the Libraries' WinSPIRS/WebSPIRS Network. This makes the index searchable from any workstation at Queen's or through the Queen's Internet Service.

Note: Under the vendor's license agreement, access to this database is limited to four users at a time; office and home access is restricted to current Queen's students, faculty and staff.

CBCA Fulltext Education indexes Canadian educational literature published from 1976 to the present (updated monthly). The range of material covered in the database includes: Canadian education journal and newspaper articles, government and research reports, book reviews, curriculum documents, and theses. From 1997 on, the database also includes the full-text of selected newspaper and journal articles. As well, the subscription comprises a separate database, Canadian Education Directory 1999, which provides an annually-updated list of education-related associations and institutions across Canada.

To connect to these new databases, follow the regular route for accessing the WinSPIRS/WebSPIRS Network:

  1. Start from Queen's Libraries Home Page.

  2. Click on: Indexes & Databases

  3. Click on either: WinSPIRS (available through Packman) or WebSPIRS

  4. Once connected to the Database Server, scroll down the database list to the heading: EDUCATION
