Chemical Engineer Salary Survey

The results of the 2009 AIChE salary survey appear in the August issue of Chemical Engineering Progress. The survey was sent to AIChE members who are U.S. residents. The survey found that chemical engineering salaries are up 7 percent from 2007, to a median of $110,950, and average starting salaries have risen to more than $65,000. Despite the recession, job prospects for chemical engineers are good, especially in the fields of energy, biotechnology and nanotechnology.
