Course Reserve Request Form - Bracken Library
The Course Reserve service is used by the teaching faculty to limit the loan periods and ensure equitable access for heavy-demand resources. Our first option will be to determine if we can provide a link to the article or e-book so that the students will be able to access it online.
Original Publications (books, monographs etc.) may be placed on reserve. In the case of book chapters, the full book will be placed on Reserve in lieu of photocopied articles.
Photocopied Articles: One paper copy of an article may be put on course reserve for every 30 students in your course (up to a maximum of 3 copies per article).
To put a photocopy of an article on course reserve, they must be:
- Supplementary (optional) source of information (not required for the completion of a course).
- A small proportion (less than 25 percent) of the assigned reading for a course.
- Not available freely on the web or in digital form through the library. The library can supply persistent links to these items for use in Learning Management Systems (Moodle) or on the web. Contact the Copyright Advisory Office (copy.right@queensu.ca) for help.
Photocopies cannot be returned to instructors at the end of the term/series of courses. Always keep a copy of your material for your own personal use.
We provide two methods of putting an item on course reserve:
- Option A. Online form - attach reading list document (MS Word)
- Option B. Online form - enter item information manually
When putting items on course reserve, instructors must provide copies of all materials other than books and DVDs owned by the library.
