Queen’s Librarian Nancy McCormack has been awarded with the 2014 Denis Marshall Memorial Award for Excellence in Law Librarianship. This award is an honour bestowed upon a current member of the Canadian Association of Law Libraries who has provided outstanding service to the Association and/or enhanced the profession of law librarianship in the recent past.

Those who nominated Nancy describe her as a “powerhouse” when it comes to making contributions to the scholarship of the library profession.  She has published four books in three years as well as numerous academic articles.  Her legal research texts provide a thorough and practical overview of the theory and processes of legal research and are mainstays of many law library and library school collections.  She has also contributed to the Canadian Association of Law Libraries through her four year tenure as editor of the Canadian Law Library Review and her ongoing role as co-editor of the book review column and as editor emeritus.

Nancy’s influence reaches far beyond writing and publishing.  One of her nominators described her as “incredibly generous, sharing her experiences, her knowledge and her time…. She has been an inspiration to many librarians currently in the profession and is a wonderful role model.”

The award was formally presented to Nancy at the Canadian Association of Law Libraries annual conference in Winnipeg on May 26.
