Canadas First-ever Public Health Geomatics Conference

GeoConnections is pleased to be providing support to Canada’s first Public Health Geomatics Conference, entitled Geographic Information Systems in Public Health. The event, which will be held as part of the 98th Annual Conference of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA), will take place at The Westin Ottawa/Ottawa Congress Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, September 16-19, 2007.

“The Public Health Geomatics conference will have two streams—Advancing Public Health Practice through GIS, and GIS Applications to Public Health Research—that will cut across all 13 streams of the CPHA conference. It is expected to attract researchers and practitioners using GIS technologies and spatial data to inform public health decision making, who are being encouraged to submit abstracts under one or more of the CPHA conference themes.

“Partners in the Public Health Geomatics conference include the CPHA, the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Canadian Institute for Health InformationCanadian Population Health Initiative, and the Canadian Institutes of Health ResearchInstitute of Population and Public Health.
