Queen’s Library and Archives Team Wins Spelling Bee!
Posted: May 8th, 2014Congratulations to the Queen’s Library and Archives team of Sharon Murphy, Jane Philipps and Carol Tennant for placing first in the 20th Annual Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee, Kingston Literacy & Skills’ annual fundraiser to help support its Family Literacy programs.
The “Bee-Attitudes” competed with 15 teams, ending in a showdown with the Kingston Frontenac Public Library. The Bee-Attitudes used their mulligan after spelling ‘anaptyxis’ incorrectly, but remained in the competition by correctly spelling ‘hauberk’. The Bee-Attitudes claimed victory with the correct spelling of ‘bombardon’.
This year’s Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee raised over $14,000 for Kingston Literacy and Skills. Great work, team!
