The Nature of Words: A Special Collections Exhibition

nature-words-newsA group exhibition of books, book objects and works on paper is on display at the W.D. Jordan Special Collections and Music Library this Fall.  The exhibit, titled The Nature of Words, features work by Reg Beatty, Sigrid Blohm, Wendy Cain, Mira Coviensky, Margaret Lock, Will Rueter, and Don Taylor.

The exhibition will be on display from October 13 – December 22, 2010.

At 5:30pm: an introduction to the exhibition by Margaret Lock
At 6pm: an illustrated lecture on paper-pulp painting techniques by Wendy Cain

Light refreshments (tea, coffee, cookies) will be served.  A 50-page catalogue is available at the Jordan Library information desk for $15.

Melhorn-Boe (Book Artist) Slide Talk on Dec 13 in Jordan Library

Lise Melhorn-Boe, book artist and Fall 2006 Visitor and Artist-in-Residence in the Department of Women’s Studies, will be repeating the slide talk she gave in November about her works:

Place:  Graham George Room in the W.D. Jordan Special Collections and Music Library (in Douglas Library, at the corner of Union and University)

Book Artist Talk & Reception, Nov 14 in Jordan Library

Lise Melhorn-Boe, book artist and Fall 2006 Visitor and Artist-in-Residence in the Department of Women’s Studies, will speak about her work at 7 pm on November 14th.  The lecture, followed by a reception for all attendees, will be held in the W.D. Jordan Special Collections and Music Library.

ONCE UPON A TIME – Jordan Library Exhibit of Handmade Books, Oct-Dec 2006

Once Upon a Time - Exhibit Poster From now until December 21st, visit Lise Melhorn-Boe’s exhibit of handmade books on display in the W.D. Jordan Special Collections and Music Library (5th level of the Douglas Library building).

Ms. Melhorn-Boe, a Fall 2006 Visitor and Artist-in-Residence in the Department of Women’s Studies, is a North Bay book artist whose works are collected by public libraries and galleries around the world.

Artist’s Talk
Ms. Melhorn-Boe will be giving a talk about her work, with slides, on Tuesday, November 14th at 7 pm in the Jordan Library. A reception will follow the presentation.
