Irish Newspaper Archives – Trial Extended

The Irish Newspaper Archives is an online digitized database of Irish newspapers dating from 1763 to the present. It includes a mix of out of print titles and current titles, and provides word searchable access. Titles include the Irish Independent (1905-current), Sunday Independent (1906-current), The Freeman’s Journal (1763-1924), the Nation (1842-1897) and many of Ireland’s leading regional newspapers.

Thomson ONE Research

The Library now subscribes to Thomson ONE Research database.

Overview/Company Overview provides a comprehensive overview of a company. It includes key fundamentals, the latest transactions, the latest five deals, research reports, news and significant developments, and the top five shareholders. There is a Public Profile tab and a Private Profile tab. Data is global and continuously updated.

Research/Company Research provides in-depth research reports developed by expert analysts at nearly 1600 of the world’s top investment banks, brokerage houses, and research firms. Research reports are global in coverage and become available as soon as their release terms allow – from 3 days to a few weeks after release. Historical research reports are available back to 1982.

ProQuest Multidatabase Subject Searching

Searching simultaneously in several ProQuest databases is now available by subject grouping. These groupings partially replace the former Scholar’s Portal subject groupings, but may not include all the same databases. Some databases that were in Scholars Portal subject groupings are now available only as individual databases on various vendor platforms.

Library Research Databases Moving to New ProQuest Platform

By July 29, 2011 several research databases available through Queen’s Library will be moving to a new platform. Scholar’s Portal and the CSA Illumina Platform will no longer be available. The URLs for accessing these databases will change. If you have them bookmarked or have them linked you will need to change the urls although redirects will be in effect.

Proquest has launched a new cross-searchable platform to include numerous databases that used to be accessible through various platforms including Scholar’s Portal, CSA Illumina and Chadwick-Healey.

Further information will be posted as we move through the process.

Access the New York Times online through the Library!

The New York Times is now charging for unlimited access to their articles on www.nytimes.com.
Visitors will be allowed to view 20 articles for free each month. To read more, you will need a subscription.

The Queen’s community has access to the current New York Times articles through the library’s subscription to Factiva and has access to articles all the way back to 1851 via the New York Times database. As well the current print edition is available to read in the library.
