New Resource – OvidMD

OvidMD is a new single search interface that will locate content in the following resources:

  • Ovid e-books purchased by Queen’s (over 680)
  • Ovid Medline® (full-text links provided for journals purchased by Queen’s)
  • ACP Journal Club
  • Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
  • Evidence-Based and National Guidelines (U.S)
  • Facts & Comparisons A to Z Drug Facts
  • Images extracted from Ovid e-books and e-journals (based on captions)
  • RelayHealth Patient Handouts
  • UpToDate®

N.B. Included in OvidMD are brief, first page excerpts from UpToDate entries. Anyone with a personal subscription can login to their account to see the complete entry. Bracken Library does not subscribe to UpToDate.

Although some of the resources are most useful to medical students and clinicians, it should be noted that all health and life sciences students, staff and faculty will find useful content via this search interface. New users are encouraged to use the help links or contact the Bracken Library Reference Desk for assistance (533-3176 or bracken.library@queensu.ca)

Trial – Anatomy and Physiology Online

Bracken Library is trialing Anatomy and Physiology Online until February 17. Designed for students enrolled in introductory anatomy and physiology courses, this online educational resource contains 19 comprehensive modules on the human body. Features include:

CINAHL: Problem with Subject Headings *Updated*

The EBSCOhost database CINAHL [ Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature] is currently experiencing problems with Subject Heading searching. The vendor is aware of the problem and is working to address the issue as soon as possible.

Update: This issue has been resolved.

RefWorks 2.0 Workshops

Bracken Library will be offering two “Introduction to RefWorks” workshops this semester:

  • Tuesday, January 31, 4:00pm – 5:15pm
  • Wednesday, February 29, 4:00pm – 5:15pm
