ProQuest Dissertations and Theses – Full Text

ProQuest Dissertations and Theses now offers full text for most of the dissertations and theses added since 1997 and strong retrospective coverage for older works. Citations are provided since 1861 and abstracts since 1980.

Queen’s theses since 1997 are also available in full-text and can be searched as a subset of the Dissertations and Theses database.

Library of Latin Texts Online

The Library now subscribes to the Library of Latin Texts Online.

From the publisher’s website:

CLCLT is the world’s leading database for Latin texts. It contains texts from the beginning of Latin literature (Livius Andronicus, 240 BC) through to the texts of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). It covers all the works from the classical period, the most important patristic works, a very extensive corpus of Medieval Latin literature as well as works of recentior latinitas. The complete works of writers such as Cicero, Virgil, Augustine, Jerome, Gregory the Great, Anselm of Canterbury, Bernard of Clairvaux and Thomas a Kempis can thus be consulted. The texts have been taken from the Corpus Christianorum series and from many other leading editions

Sage Research Methods Online

The Library now subscribes to the database Sage Research Methods Online.

From the publisher’s website:

SAGE Research Methods Online (SRMO) is a research tool supported by a newly devised taxonomy that links content and methods terms. Freedonia Focus Portal

The Library now subscribes to Freedonia Focus Portal.  This database includes industry analysis and market research reports on 18 global industry sectors.  It includes product and market size assessments, product and market forecasts, industry trends, threats and opportunities, key industry participants and links to more resources.

New Database for Alberta Legal Materials

The Queen’s Library now subscribes s to QP Source Professional, a fulltext database providing up-to-date access to Alberta legal materials: statutes and regulations; the Alberta Gazette; rules of court; annual volumes; orders in council; and various legislative-related publications.

Underground and Independent Comics, Comix and Graphic Novels

The Library now subscribes to the database Underground and Independent Comics, Comix and Graphic Novels.  From the publisher’s website:

Underground and Independent Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novelsis the first ever scholarly, primary source database focusing on adult comic books and graphic novels. Beginning with the first underground comix from the 1960’s to the works of modern sequential artists, this collection will contain more than 75,000 pages of comics and graphic novels, along with 25,000 pages of interviews, criticism, and journal articles that document the continual growth and evolution of this artform.

 

FADIS: Art and Architecture Images

Queen’s University is now a member of FADIS, the Federated Academic Digital Imaging System. This is a shared, free-to-members repository of art and architecture images. More specifically:

FADIS is learning management and courseware system developed for image based teaching of art and architecture. The goal of FADIS is the creation of a freely available common repository and delivery system for education and research available to contributing institutions.

You need to be a member of the Queen’s community in order to get a login name and password for access: please contact the Queen’s administrator for details.

JustCite

The Library is now providing access to a legal database called JustCite. According to the publisher, Justis Publishing, JustCite

cross-references cases, legislation and journal articles and shows you how they are related. The database covers all major case law series from the UK and Ireland, as well as EU law and an increasing number of titles from common law jurisdictions around the world … The information indexed on JustCite comes from a wide and ever expanding range of resources but can be broadly organised into the four categories of Cases, Legislation, European Union Information and Legal Journals & Support Materials.

Westlaw Canada LawSource

The Library is now providing access to Westlaw Canada LawSource.

From the publisher’s site:

Westlaw Canada’s mandate is to provide coverage of unreported court decisions from 1986 forward and reported court decisions from 1977, as well as decisions published in Carswell law reports from their inception. You will also find that Westlaw Canada includes an extensive collection of decisions predating 1977 from key courts and law report series.
