Citation-tracking databases offer powerful analytical capabilities that can improve your literature searches and help you understand the impact of your research. Knowing where and how often your work is being cited is useful when preparing grant applications, applying for a new academic or research position, preparing a tenure or promotion portfolio and deciding where to submit an article for publication.

Course description:
This 75-minute session covers topics such as advanced searching, using RefGrab-It to import data, working offline, editing multiple references,viewing, printing and sorting references and more. Attendees should have a working knowledge of RefWorks’ basic features.

This workshop will demonstrate how you can access the wealth of information in patent literature and provide you with strategies for searching online patent databases. You will learn:

  • What are the basic types of patents
  • How to download a patent document
  • How to find a translation of a patent document
  • How to use patent office databases to do basic patent searches
  • How to search using patent classification
