RefWorks Workshops for Engineers and Scientists

The Engineering and Science Library will be holding RefWorks Workshops on

  • Monday, Feb 11: 12:30 – 1:30
  • Wednesday, Feb 13: 1:30 – 2:30
  • Thursday, Feb 14: 3:30 – 4:30

In these workshops you will learn how to

  • Create a RefWorks account
  • Import from catalogues and databases
  • Create folders, organize research and share files
  • Create a bibliography within RefWorks and using Write-N-Cite
  • Organize and manage a variety of objects including Microsoft® Word, Equations, Chemical Structures, Technical Drawings and more…

Refworks Workshops for Engineers and Scientists

The Engineering and Science Library will be offering Refworks Workshops on:

  • Wednesday, October 31st, 12:30-1:30pm
  • Thursday, November 1st,  3:30-4:30pm 
  • Tuesday, November 6th, 5:30-6:30pm

In these workshops you learn how to save references from database and library catalogue searches, produce bibliographies, and create personal (or group) databases of citations.

Searching Patents for Scientists and Engineers, Workshops April 24 & 26

Patents are an vital source of information on new innovations and emerging technologies. Last year inventors worldwide filed more than 1.5 million patent applications. Patent literature is international and interdisciplinary, covering inventions in every field of technology during the last 200 years. Searching patents as well as collecting data for a new patent may be an important part of your research. This workshop will teach you how to locate, retrieve and evaluate patent documents. Topics include:

  • Overview of patent documents and databases
  • Patent number searching
  • Inventor and company searching
  • Searching by subject classification
  • Translations and cited references
  • Workshops will be held April 24th & 26th, 5:30-7:00pm in the Douglas Library E-Classroom.

    Refworks Workshops, Nov 1 & 2

    Refworks is a web-based citation management tool and is available free of charge to all students, faculty and staff courtesy of an institutional subscription by Queen’s University Library.
