Virtual News Library – Ontario newspapers
Access to the full-text of all news articles published in the 28 Ontario newspapers owned by Osprey Media, including The Kingston Whig Standard and the Belleville Intelligencer. Date coverage is 1985 to the most recent paper; database contents are updated daily.

Refworks is a web-based citation management tool and is available free of charge to all students, faculty and staff courtesy of an institutional subscription by Queen’s University Library.
Workshops will be held October 31st, November 1st and November 2nd in the Engineering and Science Library, Electronic Classroom.

FIAF International Index to Film Periodicals (via ProQuest)
Index (with abstracts) to approximately 300 leading academic and popular film journals published internationally, as well as comprehensive indexing of television periodicals until 2000 and TV-related articles from film periodicals from 2000 to present.

Lillian Allen, the English Department’s first Canada Council Writer-in-Residence, will deliver a reading in Stauffer Library, on Monday, October 23 at 4:30 pm, in celebration of the opening of the Speakers’ Corner in the Queen’s Learning Commons. Lillian Allen, who specializes in the writing and performing of dub poetry, is an internationally renowned poet and writer of short stories and plays, and an influential figure on the Canadian cultural landscape. All are welcome!

Due to annual updating and maintenance, the ventilation system for Botterell Hall and the entire building will be closed to all but those personnel doing CRITICAL RESEARCH. All staff will be required to sign in upon entering the building. Entry is to be through the front doors of the building ONLY.
Closure will be effective from 7:00 a.m. on October 21 to 7:00 a.m. on October 23. Please note, Building Ventilation Policy will be in effect at this time.
Because of this, Bracken Health Sciences Library will be closed both October 21 and 22. The Engineering and Science Library is open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sundays, while the Stauffer Library will be open 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. both Saturdays and Sundays. (Go here for library hours throughout campus.)
(Also, there will be reduced ventilation (down to 75%) from October 23 to October 27.)
