Eighteenth Century Journals II Online

Posted: May 14th, 2007

A collection of searchable, digital facsimiles of English newspapers and journals published between 1699 and 1812, Eighteenth Century Journals II Online is derived from the holdings of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Centre (at the University of Texas at Austin).  The material reproduced in this new digital project covers many rare items not held by The British Library.

“Topics covered are extremely wide-ranging and include: the writings of Sir Isaac Newton; the French Revolution; reviews of literature and fashion throughout Europe; political debates; and coffee house gossip and discussion. For any library supporting studies of the Eighteenth Century – including Literature, the Theatre, the origins and rise of Romanticism, Politics, Revolution and Rebellion, Social issues, Gender, Society Life, Religion and the influence of the Press – these periodicals and newspapers will prove to be an important and multi-faceted resource. We feature many short run items and very rare materials which will be an excellent complement to other resources already available in this area.”  — http://www.18thcjournals2.amdigital.co.uk/introduction/index.aspx
