Queen’s Library’s subscription to the online version of Nature now includes coverage of the entire journal back to its inception with Vol. 1, no. 1 (Nov. 4, 1869).
Jordan Special Collections and Music Library is pleased to announce the launch of a new exhibit in the Library: Palladio in Print – An Exhibition of Books from Queen’s University Library and Private Collectors in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Andrea Palladio.
The exhibit, which opens from 4-5:30 pm on March 27, 2008, will continue through to October 31, 2008.
The Center for Research Libraries’ (www.crl.edu) latest issue of Focus On… highlights German resources that are held by the Center (http://209.175.55.102/PDF/pdfFocus/Winter2007-08.pdf). Queen’s University Library is a member of CRL allowing for long term interlibrary loan of their materials.

Due to an unexpected server hardware failure, QCAT – the Queen’s library catalogue – is currently unavailable. Every effort is being made to diagnose and repair the problem as quickly as possible but we cannot give an “anticipated up time” at the moment.
We apologise for this inconvenience, especially at such a critical time of year, and ask for your understanding while system engineers do their best to get the catalogue back online as soon as they can.

ICE Virtual Library
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Virtual Library “gives access to the largest repository of full text civil engineering papers in the world. From here you can search the ICE’s archive of technical papers from 1836 to the present day, viewing papers on screen in fully printable form.”

As of Tuesday, March 4, 2008, students, educators, researchers and scholars from all Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) institutions (this includes Queen’s University Library) have access to <odesi>, a web-based system delivered through Scholars Portal which allows users to explore multiple data sets, including demographic data from Statistics Canada and polling data from Gallup, in a variety of ways.

Attention all Queen’s students and faculty! We are seeking 10 students and 4 faculty members who can participate next week (March 10-13) in a study on using the QCAT library catalogue and its role in your research process.
To volunteer: complete the preliminary survey without delay! Deadline: Friday, 7 March 2008 (or earlier if all places are taken).
Those accepted into the study will be asked to attend a one-hour, one-on-one interview next week (specific time to be arranged), at which time they will receive a $25 Library printing/photocopy card as acknowledgement of our thanks for contributing to this critical Queen’s Library project to improve QCAT.
