Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences & Encyclopedia of Biological Chemistry

Posted: June 16th, 2008

We now have access to Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Science and Encyclopedia of Biological Chemistry

The Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences is a comprehensive yet succinct publication that covers the application of current advances in the biological sciences, through which scientists can now better produce sustainable, safe food, feed and food ingredients, and renewable raw materials for industry and society. This encyclopedia also covers the concerns over continuing advances in the application of knowledge in the areas of ecology and plant pathology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry and biotechnology, as well as the ethical issues involved in the use of the powerful techniques available to modern plant science. The Encyclopedia of Biological Chemistry addresses the fundamental discipline of biological chemistry underlying virtually all of the life sciences. This compilation of more than 500 different entries encompasses all aspects of biochemistry, as well as the extensions of this subject into the related fields of molecular biology, cell biology, genetics and biophysics. This comprehensive encyclopedia covers all areas of biological chemistry written by more than 500 selected international experts. Articles are generously illustrated including more than 800 images in four-color. Each entry contains a clear, concise review of the topic along with illustrations, a glossary of technical terms and a section for additional reading. Illustrata Technology, Illustrata Natural Science, and CINDAS databases on trial until July 6

Posted: June 10th, 2008

The following CSA databases will be on trial until July 8/08:

1. Illustrata Natural Sciences – Searchable tables, figures, graphs, charts and other illustrations from the scholarly research and technical literature.

2. Illustrata Technology – Deep indexing for more than 500 publishers including: Wiley-Blackwell; Cambridge University Press; Emerald; Oxford University Press; and Springer. Core subject areas include materials science, engineering, aerospace, and high technology

3. CINDAS TPMD: The Thermophysical Properties of Matter Database (TPMD) contains thermophysical properties of over 5,000 materials with approximately 50,000 data curves that illustrate how various properties of materials behave under different test conditions. The database is searchable by material group, material name, property group, property name and independent variable. For all data curves, the material composition, experimental conditions, raw or smoothed data, and references are given. These references may be to published literature, theses, or technical and laboratory reports. Dynamic graphing capabilities allow users to compare the same property of multiple materials or the same material under different conditions, as well as change the ranges on the graph axes.

4. CINDAS MPMD:The Microelectronics Packaging Materials Database (MPMD) contains data on thermal, mechanical, electrical and physical properties of electronics packaging materials. This database which contains properties of over 750 materials and contains over 15,000 data curves was developed under the sponsorship of the Semiconductor Research Corporation.
