Coming July 14, 2008: New Library Website Design!

Posted: July 3rd, 2008

NOTE: On July 14, the Library Website (library.queensu.ca) may experience temporary display problems due to a design upgrade. Your patience during time is appreciated!

Queen’s University Library is making some changes to the library website this Summer:

  1. We’re making the website easier to navigate
  2. We’re giving the website a visual makeover

Below is a preview of our redesigned library homepage (going live in July 14, 2008):

home2008s.png

The new design is the result of listening to you, our library users. We’ve interviewed lots of library patrons (undergrads, grads, faculty, staff…) and have taken a close look at our web usage statistics. We’ve eliminated some library jargon and put our most popular links in more prominent places. For example, you can search for journal articles right from the homepage.

Have any feedback on the new design? Feel free to send a quick email to Wendy Huot, Web Development Librarian (wendy.huot@queenus.ca).

Blackwell Synergy E-Journals Not Yet Available Online

Posted: July 2nd, 2008

Wiley InterScience, the new owners of Blackwell Synergy e-journals, are still in the process of merging all Blackwell content into the Wiley InterScience interface. As a result, as of 2 July 2008 Queen’s still does not have access to the full-text of articles in e-journal titles which are listed in QCAT, on the Library website and on the Get It! menu as being “at Blackwell Synergy”. The publisher expects to restore access soon.

E-journal titles listed in QCAT etc. as being “at Wiley InterScience” are now available once again.
