The much-accessed drug reference book “United States Pharmacopiea, Volume 1, Drug Information for the Health Care Professional” (or USP DI) has been renamed “DrugPoints” and is available exclusively online. It is an invaluable guide, in addition to the Canadian equivalent, the “Compendium of Pharmaceutical Specialties” (or CPS, also available online), for those requiring pharmaceutical substance information such as dosing & indications, contraindications/warnings, drug interactions, adverse effects, and more.
Please visit DrugPoints to look in this new format of an old favourite.

Queen’s faculty, staff and students now have online access to the full-text of approximately 150 French-language journals in the social sciences and humanities published by four European publishing houses (Belin, De Boek, La Découverte and Erès) at a website called Cairn. The full-text coverage begins with 2001 and carries through to the most recent issue.
The primary subject areas covered by this collection are history, psychology, economics, political science and sociology. Over the next two years, titles will be added to the collection focussing on management, arts, literature, philosophy and religious studies.
To view the journals contained in the collection, go the Cairn homepage at http://www.cairn.info/ and explore the links under the heading Accès par discipline.
Queen’s Library has been able to purchase this new subscription thanks to the 2008 Digital Content Infrastructure for the Human and Social Sciences (DCI) Project, led by the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).

Links from the Library Catalogue and the Library website to e-journals “at Blackwell Synergy” are now operational once again. Clicking on these links will automatically redirect you to the e-journal’s new homepage on the Wiley InterScience search interface.
For the next few weeks, there may be some Blackwell content which is not yet available on the new site. Please email us (library.serials@queensu.ca) if you encounter any of these instances so that we can follow up with the new publisher.

NOTE: On July 14, the Library Website (library.queensu.ca) may experience temporary display problems due to a design upgrade. Your patience during time is appreciated!
Queen’s University Library is making some changes to the library website this Summer:
- We’re making the website easier to navigate
- We’re giving the website a visual makeover
Below is a preview of our redesigned library homepage (going live in July 14, 2008):
The new design is the result of listening to you, our library users. We’ve interviewed lots of library patrons (undergrads, grads, faculty, staff…) and have taken a close look at our web usage statistics. We’ve eliminated some library jargon and put our most popular links in more prominent places. For example, you can search for journal articles right from the homepage.
Have any feedback on the new design? Feel free to send a quick email to Wendy Huot, Web Development Librarian (wendy.huot@queenus.ca).

Wiley InterScience, the new owners of Blackwell Synergy e-journals, are still in the process of merging all Blackwell content into the Wiley InterScience interface. As a result, as of 2 July 2008 Queen’s still does not have access to the full-text of articles in e-journal titles which are listed in QCAT, on the Library website and on the Get It! menu as being “at Blackwell Synergy”. The publisher expects to restore access soon.
E-journal titles listed in QCAT etc. as being “at Wiley InterScience” are now available once again.
