CINAHL out of Ovid as of August 31st

Posted: August 27th, 2008

Effective September 1, CINAHL is changing to a new interface called EBSCOHost, instead of OvidSP.   What does this mean for you?

  1. You can access CINAHL from the Bracken Library homepage library.queensu.ca/webmed in the “Quick Links”; and
  2. IMPORTANT – TIME SENSITIVE -If you have AutoAlerts or other permanently saved searches in CINAHL, you will lose access to these saved searches as of AUGUST 31, 2008.  These can be manually transferred to the NEW CINAHL on Ebsco.  PLEASE print the search strategies AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  If you would like assistance in entering these into the new system, please call the reference desk at 533-3176 for a house call.

If you are interested in having a demonstration of the new interface, we will be glad to give you a tour of the new features.  Please contact the reference desk for details.

OvidSP interface introduces user customization

Posted: August 22nd, 2008

Do you like the search history above or below the search entry box?  The user can drag it to either location. Do you like using the Full Text limit or not? The user can now select which limits to display on the main page. The Search Aids box can also be closed or opened. You may also notice the ”rearrangement” of some of the functions in the Ovid databases: links instead of the tabs at the top of the search box, a horizontal Results Manager (like it was before!), and more.

If you need any help using the new version, or have any questions or comments, please contact us using our “Ask Us!” form or other contact points.
