This year World Intellectual Property Day celebrates the role of intellectual property (IP) systems in promoting the development of environmentally friendly technologies. Types of IP include patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights. Queen’s University researchers are working on many technologies that will benefit the environment. These include fuel cells, green chemistry and more efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.

To learn more about intellectual property and green innovation, visit the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and World Intellectual Property Organization or drop by the Engineering & Science Library to see our display of IP-related books and patented products. For information on searching patents, visit our patent research guide.
