This session will provide graduate students with an introduction to RefWorks bibliographic management software. Students will have an opportunity for hands-on practice with importing and organizing references, creating bibliographies, and using the Write-n-Cite component of the software.

3-D Printable Open Source Appropriate Technology Design Competition

Students, faculty and staff at Queen’s are invited to design OSATs for printing on open source 3-D printers that demonstrate refreshed approaches and responsible solutions for sustainable development. The competition’s goal is to facilitate an open exchange of 3-D designs that can be printed on a RepRap that meet human developmental needs, while introducing the Queen’s community to this new exciting field.

Benefits of participation include: Build your resume + be part of the OSAT and open source 3D printing or “Maker” revolutions ,the finalists’ designs will be promoted in press and university outreach. The Contest website will also be sustained after the competition conclusion as a resource for the continuing the OSAT and open source 3D printing dialogue All 3 prize winning teams will receive a copy of Makers by Cory Doctorow

Everyone welcome.Here is your opportunity to learn about PubMed and OvidSP Medline – their differences and similarities. Both are gold standard databases for the health and life sciences disciplines. We will explore how to use each database as a discovery tool, how to apply advanced search features such as MeSH terms and limits, how to manage search results (e.g. print, email, save citations to RefWorks or Reference Manager) and how to access the articles in full text. Furthermore, the session will highlight value added resources such as Single Citation Matcher, and Find Related Articles.
