Copyright and Teaching Workshops

A number of Copyright and Teaching workshops are scheduled for the coming weeks.

Workshops will take place on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, September 13 from 9:30 to 10:30
  • Wednesday, September 21 from 10-11
  • Wednesday, September 28 from 2 to 3
  • Tuesday, October 4 from 9:30 to 10:30
  • Tuesday, October 11 from 9:30 to 10:30

You can sign up using the following Moodle course: https://moodle.queensu.ca/course/view.php?id=1993 To register, you will need to sign in with your NetID and password.  If you do not have a NetID or have trouble signing in, email copy.right@queensu.ca for help or to register for one of the dates listed above.

Workshops are available by request at any location on campus.  Send an email to copy.right@queensu.ca to request a workshop at your location.

Service Outage

Please note that due to a scheduled upgrade of the Scholar’s Portal network, their following services will not be available from 10 PM Sunday Aug. 28 – 2 AM Monday Aug. 29:

Brief Service Interruption: RefWorks and Other Scholars Portal Services – 10 p.m. Aug. 28 to 2 a.m. Aug. 29

Scholars Portal will be upgrading their storage network between 10:00 p.m. on August 28 and 2 a.m. on August 29. As a result, RefWorks, WizFolio, Scholars Portal e-journals and e-books, and Geo Portal beta will not be available during that time. Other Scholars Portal services are expected to be available without interruption.

Please note that some e-journals and e-books that are available through Scholars Portal may be available through other databases and/or in other formats as well. During the service interruption, you may be able to find an alternate way of accessing the journal or book that you are seeking by searching its title in QCAT.

View your Citation Report (including h-index) via Web of Science

Have you published one or more papers? If so, you may be able to access your Citation Report (which includes your h-index count) via Web of Science.

Your Web of Science Citation Report includes:

  • A graph detailing the number items you have published in each year;
  • A graph detailing the number of times your items have been cited in each year;
  • A chart that presents citation information specific to each item published;
  • A citation summary, including the number of times your items have been cited (with and without self-citations), the total number of citing articles, and the average number of citations per item;
  • Your h-index (also referred to as Hirsch index or Hirsch number) count; and
  • The option to view the records of citing articles (with or without self-citations).

Want to view your Citation Report? Follow these four, easy steps:

1) On the Bracken Library homepage, select Web of Science from the Find Articles section.

2) In Web of Science, select Author Finder and enter your last name and first initial in the allotted spaces. Click the Search by Name button.

3) Review the information provided to identify the entry that corresponds with you and your publication history. Select the checkbox of the appropriate entry and click on the View Records button (you may select more than one entry).

4) Click on the Create Citation Report link, and view your statistics.
