The Bibliothek deutscher Klassiker covers the work of more than thirty authors spanning eleven centuries.

Works include early German texts such as “Lancelot and Ginover” and those by Wolfram von Eschenbach; editions of important authors such as Herder, Kleist, and Büchner; and the works of philosophers such as Kant, Schleiermacher, and Fichte. Collections of historical, philosophical, theological, political and art history texts add context and background material. All the texts have been edited by leading international scholars and are accompanied by extensive commentaries that reflect the most recent research.

The full text of over 130 publications is available. Searches can be done for titles, keywords, or authors. Searches can be limited to the works of a particular author or to a specific genre of text.
