Lost or Damaged Material

Replacement Billing for Lost / Damaged Material

Borrowers who lose or fail to return materials, or who return materials in damaged condition, are subject to charges for both the cost of a replacement copy plus processing costs and accumulated fines. A bill for these charges is mailed approximately 60 days after the item's last due date.

Appeals

Questions concerning charges for lost or damaged material should be directed initially to the Circulation Desk of the Library where the charge was incurred. Any unresolved issues may be appealed, during normal office hours, to the Librarian in that Library who is in charge of circulation. The next level of appeal is to the Associate University Librarian. Final appeal must be made through the University grievance procedures established in the Queen's University Senate Policy on Student Appeals, Rights & Discipline.
