Printing from Your Laptop (Windows)

If you have not been able to install the library printers successfully:

What do you have to do, to be able to print to the Library printers?

  1. Connect your laptop to the Queen's campus network. If you are connecting to the Queen's network for the first time, use one of the following methods:
  2. Choose your library and locate the necessary printer information in the Library Print Queues table (below) before starting the printer installation process.


Library Print Queues (for Windows)

For Laptops using Windows 7 :

You will need to connect to the library print server and to your chosen Library Print Queue

  1. Click on the Windows 7 Start button.
  2. In the Start Search or Search programs and files box, type the Library Print Queue Name from the Library Print Queues table that corresponds to the library printer you want to install on your laptop. (e.g. \\130.15.161.252\StaufferBW) and press Enter.
  3. A Connect to ... or Enter Network Password window will pop up and you will be prompted for the following information:
    • For Username, type: ad\YourQueensNetID
    • For Password, type your Queen's password
  4. If a Trust Printer Drivers dialog box appears, click on Install Driver.
  5. If a User Account Control dialog box appears, click on Continue.

Please be patient as your laptop searches for the printer and printer drivers. The search process may take several minutes.

Once the printer is installed, the Printers window will appear. You may close this window and start printing.

Note:  Print jobs sent from your laptop will appear on the Library Print Station's print queue menu under your Queens NetID.

 

For Laptops using Windows 8:

You will need to connect to the library print server and to your chosen Library Print Queue

  1. At the Windows 8 Start screen or Desktop screen, right-click the bottom left corner of the screen and select Run.
  2. In the address input box, type the Library Print Queue Name from the Library Print Queues table that corresponds to the library printer you want to install on your laptop. (e.g. \\130.15.161.252\StaufferBW).
  3. Click on Enter.
  4. A Windows Security window will pop up and you will be prompted for the following information:
    • For Username, type: ad\YourQueensNetID
    • For Password, type your Queen's password
  5. If a Do you trust the printer drivers? dialog box appears, click on Install Drivers to continue.
  6. If a User Account Control dialog box appears, click on Yes to continue.

Please be patient as your laptop searches for the printer and printer drivers. The search process may take several minutes.

Once the printer is installed, the installed printer’s print queue window will appear. You may close this window and start printing.

  1. At the Windows 10 Start screen or Desktop screen, click the bottom left corner of the screen in the search box.
  2. In the search box, type the Library Print Queue Name from the Library Print Queues table that corresponds to the library printer you want to install on your laptop. (e.g. \\130.15.161.252\StaufferBW).
  3. Click on Enter.
  4. A Windows Security window will pop up and you will be prompted for the following information:
    • For Username, type: ad\YourQueensNetID
    • For Password, type your Queen's password
