Reference & Research Services
Reference Services
On-site help with finding information and quick research assistance is available at reference/information desks in each campus library, as well as by e-mail, telephone or fax. In addition, as of 2006, some campus libraries offer reference service via Live Chat/Instant Messaging.
If you are planning to go to a reference desk for assistance: Be sure to first check the reference desk hours for the specific library you plan to visit, as reference service hours are not as extensive as the libraries' actual hours of opening.
Queen's Library's reference staff will help you:
- Find information on a topic
- Search library catalogues, indexes, databases and the Web
- Plan a research strategy
- Get instruction on the use of the Library and all its resources and facilities
- Locate facts and statistics
Research Services
In addition, Queen's students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with a subject librarian for individual research consultation when assistance is needed with an in-depth research question or with the development of a research strategy for a new area of investigation.
