How to Request Rush Cataloguing

Rush cataloguing requests are placed electronically via QCAT, the Queen's Library catalogue.   The service is available to any Library patron with a current Queen's student card, staff card, or Community Borrower card.

  1. While searching in the QCAT Library Catalogue, you may retrieve a record which has a line saying:

Order Info: ... copy RECEIVED as of [date]

These items are eligible for Rush Cataloguing.

  2. With either the Brief Record or the Full Record displayed on the screen, click on the Request Item in QCAT button (found at the top and bottom of all QCAT screens).
  3. You will be asked to log in to QCAT: follow the prompts on the screen.
  4. From the drop-down list presented on the screen, select the option:   Request Cataloguing for "Copy RECEIVED", and then click on the "Get Request Form" button.
  5. Complete the form by following the instructions on the screen.
  6. Library staff will notify you when your requested item is available for pick-up at the location you specified when placing the request.
