Introduction

This document provides information about the various assorted backlogs awaiting completion.

At various times, packages of electronic resources may be purchased which must also be integrated into the cataloguing process. When numerous packages are received at the same time, they may temporarily constitute part of the 'backlog'.

Note: Documents is currently undergoing a withdrawal project from the MADGIC collection. About 1000 titles have already been withdrawn; this project is expected to continue for some time.

This document is currently under review, and the numbers are in the process of being revised.

eBook Collections and Microform Collections

We have purchased a number of ebook collections which are updated on an ongoing basis. In many cases records for these packages come from the vendor (some regularly, some irregularly). In a few cases, no records are available.

For information about those packages with ongoing record loads, see E-Book Packages and MARC Record Loads. There is also a Complete List of E-Book Packages and their Cataloguing Status at Queen's.

There are also some microform sets which we load records for: information about these sets may be found at: Microform Collections and MARC Record Loads.

INV Books

Collection InformationStatusNumber Uncatalogued
Main INV Collection
The INV collection consists of the original backlog. Most of this material dates back to the 1960s. Brief records were created for these titles, and a sequential number assigned, beginning with the letters INV. Prior to the opening of Stauffer Library, these brief records were extracted from the database, and sent to OCLC to have records machine-matched. and overlaid. Due to the nature of the brief records, many records did not match, or matched incorrectly.
A larger than normal proportion of this material is in a foreign language, or is in fragile condition.
Any copy found for these items will require more editing than is usual.
This collection is currently housed in the compact storage area in the basement of Stauffer Library.
  ca. 10,000
Special Collections INV Books
A portion of the INV collection is intended for Special Collections. The nature of the material is similar to that in the main INV collection, but the volumes are housed in Special Collections.
Some titles have been pulled out of this collection for cataloguing. These are pre-1867 Canadiana, pre-1800 non-Canadian, and private press imprints.
In Process ca. 4,000
Total   ca. 14,000
