Geographic names as subject headings include natural features (e.g. bays, capes, mountains, deserts, etc.), geographical regions (e.g. names of continents, land masses, etc.), archaeological sites, parks, etc., and political jurisdictions alone or with subject subdivisions. (Political jurisdictions alone used in conjunction with a uniform title and political jurisdictions subdivided by name of organized bodies are considered corporate names, and coded in field 110).

Subfields |v, |x, |y and |z are repeatable.

A geographic name that is authorized for use only as a subject subdivision is contained in a 181 (Geographic Subdivision) field.

Note: Subfield |v (Form subdivision) is not currently used here at Queen's. Continue to use |x for form subdivisions until further notice.
