.11/9/2007 8:52:00 PMMeeting facilities: hotel accommodation was fine (except key did not work in the elevator the first day); meeting room was not as suitable as it could have been; lunch - would have preferred sandwiches/salad to a hot meal, but that is just a personal preference.
.11/9/2007 8:54:00 PMI look forward to hearing more about LibQUAL Light.
.11/9/2007 8:56:00 PMWorkshop was great. I hope this becomes an annual or semi-annual event, focusing on assessment more broadly.
.11/9/2007 8:57:00 PMI have heard Bruce and Colleen too many times (they cover the same material). I would have liked to have heard Colleen talk more about focus groups. I would have liked to have heard the speaker who missed her flight and who had prepared those great worksheets on making sense of your Libqual results. The sessions went on for too long; there was a lot of info to absorb.
.11/9/2007 8:58:00 PMOne of the library staff attended and was very pleased with the workshop as a learning experience. Some of the sessions were not applicable to our context, but interesting nevertheless.
.11/9/2007 8:59:00 PM-- a great conference!! Facilities OK, food very good. Meeting room too long/narrow and hard to hear questions when speakers didn't use microphone -- Colleen Cook's talk was great, she seemed stressed to cram it into a small timeframe so could have been longer. Some talks not tight enough, wasted time -- re Value - overall very good. Could have used more hands-on so we have some practical experience to take back with us, e.g. a mini-SPSS course
.11/12/2007 1:45:00 PMRoom was very cold! The presentations on methods were great -- a good grounding. It would have been useful for me to hear general information on the results first, and then have methods presentation -- with examples of how to apply to libqual to make it concrete -- afterwards. Good facilities overall, some good discussion.
.11/13/2007 2:11:00 PMMore time should have been spent on the actual results and what these mean, what were the major trends etc
.11/14/2007 12:45:00 PM Le format de la salle, très étroite, n'était pas propice à la bonne vision des formateurs.
.11/14/2007 6:46:00 PMSometimes difficult to see the content of the presentation on the screen for those sitting at the back
.11/26/2007 6:13:00 PMI would have appreciated a few more technically-oriented sessions. But maybe that was not the ideal setting for that.
.11/26/2007 8:38:00 PM Je n'ai pas personnellement assisté à cette rencontre mais ma collègue y a assistée et elle est revenue enchantée
.11/26/2007 8:46:00 PMThe timing of this in terms of how busy my semester is during the fall was problematic in terms of attendance for the non-Ottawa or Ontario academic librarians.
.11/26/2007 11:12:00 PMMy only complaint was the long narrow room which made it difficult, at times, to see the presenter's powerpoint slides.
.11/26/2007 11:13:00 PMThe room was too long and narrow - otherwise, everything was fine
.11/27/2007 2:54:00 PMI was quite disappointed by the presentations on day one and the first half of day two. There seemed to be a great deal of background information presented and not a lot of substance. I was really hoping to learn more indepth information about mining the LIBQAUAL qualitative and quantitative data, but did not.
.11/27/2007 2:55:00 PM The mix of presentations on LibQUAL+ and assessment in general was good. The more historical/conceptual presentation of Martha's on the Thursday morning seemed unnecessary for that crowd. I was expecting more "how to" info and examples of interesting findings when statistical analysis is applied (since I haven't done that to this point). I was also expecting more discussion of the consortium-wide results: what do they/should they mean for Canadian university libraries as a group and what do they mean for individual libraries? Not a major consideration, but the shape of the room was not ideal.
.11/27/2007 4:40:00 PMI found Jim Self and Steve Hiller to be the most interesting speakers. The information scientist from Ottawa was also good. I was rather disappointed with the ARL contingent.
.11/29/2007 6:54:00 PM Les "posters sessions" étaient bien mais j'aurais aimé au moins un cas concret de "benchmarking".
.11/29/2007 7:38:00 PM I thought that the "Evidence-based Library Practice" session was the only one not terribly useful or appropriate for the group as a whole, but all other presenters were very good. We felt that we had gathered a wealth of useful information by the end of the conference. The room where the presentations were held was not ideal, but this is a small critism. Having breakfast and lunch provided helped ensure that the day went smoothly. Not having to search around outside the hotel for those meals made life easier on the whole!
.12/4/2007 7:36:00 PMOverall, I think the conference/workshop was an excellent idea but would have liked to see more of the "workshop" aspect as part of the program. The venue was also very good but the long room was a bit awkward for projected materials.
.12/5/2007 11:15:00 PMThe first day's presentations did not provide much for me in the way of helpful analytical advice (except a bit toward the end of the day), but I was very satisfied with all the references and handouts. I'm afraid I missed the second day of the workshop due to illness, and I think that day would have been more of interst to me.
.12/6/2007 6:22:00 PMLayout of the room was not the best. If you weren't in the first few tables at the front, it was difficult to see many of the slides. Also, the round tables meant that several heads were in your way.
