When I request something via the TRC online catalogue, do I get a confirmation?
Yes.
Where do I park when I come to the TRC?
There are 2 parking spots reserved to use while you are at the TRC. You need a special TRC parking permit available through your Board or directly from the TRC staff. Parking is valid for one hour, and ONLY while your are using the TRC.
Are you open evenings and weekends?
Yes. From September to mid-June the TRC is open:
- Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 7 pm
- Fridays 8:30 am – 5 pm
- Saturdays 10 am – 5 pm

I came to the TRC one night and the building was closed.
For security reasons it has become necessary for the building to be locked after 4:30 pm and on weekends. The only door that is open is the front door at the main entrance (south east side of the building).
I just wanted to return a few things and the TRC was closed. Is there a drop box?
Yes. The drop box is located at the front of the building and it is open when the Education Library is closed.
Can I suggest a book / video / novel for the TRC to purchase?
Yes. Acquisition suggestions are welcome. Please provide as much information as possible — title, author, publisher, where you discovered the resource. This helps us locate the material. If you leave your name and phone number we will get back to you about the status of your request.
Does the TRC accept donations?
Yes. Donations are welcome if they are in good / new condition. If the resources do not fit within the TRC’s collection they are placed on a give- away table for pre-service teachers. If you make a donation to Queen’s you can ask for your financial gift to be directed to the TRC.
Financial donations go directly to TRC acquisitions of resources.
I wrote a teacher’s guide for a novel, can I donate it to the TRC?
Yes. We have many guides written by area teachers. They are most welcome.

I am a teacher candidate at Queen’s and wanted to book a video. I tried entering the barcode on my student ID card, but it was invalid. How do we obtain a login ID in order to borrow material?

You may come in and borrow an item if it is available and not booked to go out to a teacher. Teacher candidates do not have the privilege of advance booking material but if it is available you are more than welcome to come in and take it out. Videos / DVD circulate for 1 week.
“Teacher candidates (in their final year of study at the Faculty of Education, Queen’s University) may borrow material while they are studying at the Faculty of Education, in Kingston and when they have a practicum at either of the two partners boards, named above. Material may not be taken for extended practicums or beyond the limits of the two partner school boards. …
Only contract teachers and long term occasional teachers with the two partner boards may book material in advance of the date they need the material.”
