Queen’s Royal Charter Digitized by Archives
Queen’s University Archives is pleased to announce the digitization of Queen’s Royal Charter.
Originally known as “Queen’s College at Kingston”, Queen’s University was incorporated by a Royal Charter issued by Queen Victoria on October 16 1841. Contrary to persistent myth, the Queen herself did not sign the charter although her official wax seal was attached.
As part of its 175th anniversary Digital Initiative, the Archives digitized all three pages of the Royal Charter along with transcription of each page.
You can see the Royal Charter in its entirety via the Archives website.
