Spotlight on Indigenous and Indigenous-focused Presses

Stop by the Lederman Law Library to view a new book display: Spotlight on Indigenous and Indigenous-focused Presses, showcasing publishers that are either First Nations-based or ones that publish primarily on indigenous issues or works by Indigenous authors. While the focus of this display is on law-related books, these publishers disseminate material on a wide variety of subjects.

An anonymous donation in 2017 allowed the Law Library to begin broadening and deepening the collection. “We focused particularly on works on Aboriginal law and aspects of law, as published by Aboriginal authors and publishing houses,” says Amy Kaufman, Head Law Librarian. Further work to expand this collection is ongoing, and will continue to involve consultation.
