Community partnership with Providence Care

Queen's University Library is pleased to announce a community partnership with Providence Care to provide them with library services, effective June 1, 2024.

This collaboration is in line with the recent agreement with Kingston Health Sciences Centre, and the established connections with Northumberland Hills Hospital and Quinte Health Care where the library provides health care professionals with the resources they need to continue to provide quality care.

Sandra Halliday, Acting Head Health Sciences Librarian, says, “This exciting collaboration is a wonderful example of how the library connects with the Kingston community. Bracken Health Sciences librarians and staff provide high-quality library services to Queen’s Health Sciences faculty, students and staff; and many of these services will now be extended to local health care providers affiliated with Providence Care.”

Going forward, the library will provide Providence Care staff with reference services, literature searches, article retrieval, and table of contents services. Because of their geographic proximity, they will also be able to borrow print material in accordance with the library’s community borrower policies. Allison Philpot, Executive Director, Medical Affairs, Patient Flow & Research at Providence Care says this will be a positive next step in Providence Care’s library services, "This is an exciting new partnership. By moving to Queen’s, we will be continuing the long legacy of ensuring that our physicians and staff have the support they need to make evidence-based decisions. Thank you, Queen’s, for being a part of our long and strong history!"
