Accessing Times Higher Education

The Office of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor funds a campus-wide subscription to the Times Higher Education (THE), which provides access to this important resource for all faculty, staff, and students at Queen's.

As many will know, THE is a UK-based publication that focuses on providing news, data, and opinion with respect to issues related to global higher education. THE rankings are an important part of how universities assess their performance and how they compare themselves to other institutions globally. The Queen's Gazette recently wrote about Queen's achieving a rank of 7th in the world on this prestigious list. Members of the university community are also encouraged to access Queen's overall THE rankings

Since its creation in 2019, THE Rankings have grown from 450 institutions to 1,500 participating institutions across 110 countries in 2022. This includes 400 first-time ranked institutions and 24 Canadian universities. THE Impact Rankings are the only international assessment to evaluate how universities’ programs and initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). This set of 17 wide-ranging goals is central to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a universal call to protect the planet and its people.

Users may access the site directly via https://www.timeshighereducation.com/ or through the library list of databases. To access content, users will need to create an account using their queensu.ca email address.

Students, faculty, and staff can find further information on the university's ongoing contributions to the UNSDGs on the Advancing Social Impact website
