The Art of Research photo contest

Post Date:
Jan 11, 2018

This contest is now open -- Something to keep in mind when conducting research at the library!

The goal of the contest is to creatively capture the research process across disciplines and demonstrate the importance of research at the local, national and international levels. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively; the only limit is your imagination. The 2015 and 2016 contests gave us many inspiring images of the research happening across Queen’s.

Please send all entries to Leigh Cameron, Research Promotion Coordinator ( via email or Dropbox by the contest closing date: January 31, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form.

Who is eligible?

Any Queen’s faculty member, staff, student or alumni.

Prizes and Judging:

There are four categories to submit entries to this year: Community Collaborations, Invisible Discoveries, Out in the Field, and Art in Action. A prize of $500 will be awarded to the top photo in each of the categories.

Two prizes of $500 each will also be granted for Best Description, which will recognize the most creative caption for an image, and People’s Choice, which will be determined by an online vote by members of the Queen’s community. All images will also be featured on the Queen’s research web page and on other Queen’s materials. If you have submitted in the past, you are welcome to resubmit the same image if it did not win.
