Bracken Library Closed Until August 28

Bracken Health Sciences Library will be closed from July 4, 2023 until August 28, 2023 to complete the renovation work which began earlier this summer in time for the start of the 2023 Fall Term.

Queen’s University Library (QUL) always strives to avoid extended closures of library locations.However, given the significantly reduced traffic at Bracken during the summer and the multiple intermittent closures already planned for the coming months, we have made the decision to enact a full closure for this period. We believe this will allow for more efficiency in completing the renovations at Bracken, with the result of welcoming students, faculty, and staff to a freshly upgraded health sciences library this fall.

This closure will necessitate some changes to in-person library services, and we apologize for any inconvenience to our patrons. These changes are outlined below:

• Closure will begin July 4^th and Bracken will reopen August 28^th
   
• Virtual consultations with librarians, email reference help, online resources, and all other library services will continue to be available through the library website. For consultations with health sciences librarians please email bracken.library@queensu.ca or book a consultation at https://booking.library.queensu.ca/appointments/
   
• Reserve print items will remain at Bracken. Library staff will be on site to make arrangements for pickup of reserve items.
   
• During the closure, library items on hold for patrons will not be available for pickup at Bracken Library.  
   
• Staff will be on site to fulfill print requests for pickup at other campus library locations and scanning requests for online delivery. These requests can be made through Omni.
   
• The book drop-off will be open throughout the closure and will be monitored once a day for returns.
