Renovations to Stauffer in Summer 2023

Post Date:
May 3, 2023

Beginning Monday May 8, 2023 library patrons will notice renovations beginning on the ground floor of Joseph S. Stauffer Library. Queen's University Library (QUL) is aiming to complete this work by the end of August 2023. The renovation process will require portions of the Stauffer Loggia, and the staff area behind the Security Desk, to be cordoned off for periods of time, and may cause intermittent disruptions for patrons due to noise, dust, and the presence of necessary construction equipment and materials.

The first phase of the project during the week of May 8 will likely be the most disruptive to library patrons due to demolition work which must be completed prior to the construction which will be ongoing over the summer. Those seeking alternate study spaces can find hours for all library locations on the QUL website.

The accessible/gender neutral washroom located near the Information Services desk will also be removed from operation for some time while undergoing renovation during this period.

Stauffer will remain open for its regular hours of operation over the summer, and services will continue as normal during this project. In the event of changes to operating hours, or anticipated disruptions to library services QUL will endeavor to provide as much notice to patrons as possible, and minimize the duration and impact of any service disruptions.

We appreciate the patience of our patrons on campus and in the local community as we work to continue upgrading our infrastructure and services. We look forward to providing additional updates on this and other projects happening at library locations in the coming months. Any inquiries or concerns can be sent to vpul@queensu.ca.
