Summer Renovations at Bracken

Post Date:
May 12, 2023

Bracken Health Sciences Library has begun preparing for upcoming renovations to its space on the ground level of Botterell Hall. The library’s ground floor space has been cleared over the past week and Donaldson Construction will begin renovation work on Monday, May 15. Renovations are slated for completion by September 2023, although some furnishings may be delayed due to supply chain issues.

The first phase of the construction requires a full library closure from May 15, 2023 to June 4, 2023.  Reference services will be offered online and requested resources will be available for pick-up at other library locations.  All other library locations remain open with regular summer hours.

Bracken Health Sciences Library will re-open on Monday June 5, 2023 with modified services and access until renovations are complete.T he ground floor will continue to be inaccessible except for a pathway to a temporary service desk and elevator access to the lower level for collection retrieval and study space. Patrons should expect noise, dust, (which should mostly be contained), and the presence of workers, equipment, and materials for the balance of the summer, with a brief escalation during the construction of a new exterior entrance to Bracken’s ground floor.

In the event of any additional disruptions to hours or services the library will strive to provide as much notice as possible to mitigate impact on patrons and staff. Queen's Unviersity Library looks forward to sharing further updates about this exciting project throughout the coming weeks and months.
