Captioned Videos

Requesting video captioning

To request video captioning, please contact the Adaptive Technology Centre at adaptive.technology.centre@queensu.ca. Video captioning is only available for library materials. Video captioning may require substantial preparation time. Please submit your requests in advance of the semester you require this service.

Finding captioned videos in the library’s collection using Omni

We have licensed access to multiple collections of streamed video content. Many of the videos in these collections are captioned with transcripts or can be captioned upon request.

Search for the video/film in Omni using the Title field in the advanced search screen. If the video is in Omni, click on Details from the menu on the left. Look for phrases such as "Films for the hearing impaired" or "Motion pictures for the hearing impaired" or "Video recordings for the hearing impaired" that appear as a Subject heading in order to determine if a video/film has been captioned.

Captioning self-created videos

The Queen's Accessibility Hub has resources on making videos accessible, including information on creating your own captions. You must own your video or have permission to caption.
