Brendan Edwards’s Bio

Brendan supports scholarship, teaching, and learning in relation to the library's rare books and special collections. His research interests relate broadly to book history, the book as material culture, and the history of libraries in Canada.

Prior to joining the Queen's University Library, Brendan was the Department Head of Library and Archives at the Royal Ontario Museum, and Librarian at First Nations University of Canada. He has taught undergraduate level courses in History and Canadian Studies and supervised numerous diploma, undergraduate, and graduate student experiential learning projects.

Brendan is the author of Paper Talk: a history of libraries, print culture, and Aboriginal peoples in Canada before 1960 (Scarecrow, 2005), Slovakia: Culture Smart! The essential guide to customs and culture (Kuperard, 2011) and numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles.
