Introduction
You can print, scan, and copy at most of our locations using our PrintQ system from your own device or by using our Computers. Current Queen’s Students, staff and Faculty can access the service with your NetID and password.
PrintQ has three main components:
- Tri-Colour Cash – Through the Housing Blackboard portal for financial transactions
- Papercut – Your account management, pulling funds from Blackboard and tracking job status
- Ricoh Multifunction Devices – Releasing print jobs, scanning and photocopying
Steps
- Log in to your Blackboard Account: https://studentweb.housing.queensu.ca/
- Scroll to the bottom right hand corner of the page and select Tri-Colour $
- Input the amount required
- The funds come automatically from your SOLUS account
- It may take up to 15 minutes for your funds to be available to transfer.
- Log into your PaperCut account at https://library.printq.queensu.ca/ with your Queen’s NetID and password.
- PrintQ will open on the Summary of your user account
- On the left hand side menu select the second option from the bottom; Add Credit.
- The funds available to you will be under Blackboard Balance.
- Select the amount to transfer from the “Amount to add” drop down menu and then click Add value.
- Sign into PaperCut.
- On the left hand side menu select the last option “Mobile Print 1”.
- You will be directed to the download screen for your device. You must be on Queen’s Secure Network or Eduroam for WIFI. If you are on mobile data the webpage will not load.
- Select download and run the program. You can run the program by looking in your downloads folder for “pc-mobility-print-printer-setup”
- Once the program has been installed you will not see it on your computer. It is not an App and will not show up on your device.
- You can now progress to Step 4: Creating a Print Job.
*Please note, PaperCut is not available on Chromebooks.
Windows
- Open the document that you wish to print.
- Navigate to the printing page. This can be found as the printer icon at the top of the page or pressing Ctrl+P.
- Under the printer drop down menu make sure LibraryPrintQ is selected as the printer.
- Click the Print button.
Mac
- Open the document you wish to print.
- Go to File and then print or press Command+P ( ⌘+P ).
- Under the printer drop down menu make sure LibraryPrintQ is selected as the printer.
- Click the Print Button.
- Your print job will be waiting for you at the printer when the job disappears from your printing job list.
Hold for Authentication Error
If your print job won’t go through and says “Hold for Authentication” please follow the next steps.
- Next to the print job you will see an arrow in the shape of a circle on the right hand side.
- Select the arrow.
- Type your Queen’s NetID and Password into the spaces provided. Your computer will have autofilled the spaces with your computer ID and password, this is incorrect. You need to use your NetID and Password.
- Press OK.
- Your print job will be waiting for you at the printer when the job disappears from your printing job list.
- Login to any Library printer to release the print job.
- Tap the screen to wake the printer from sleep mode.
- Enter your Queen’s NetID and Password.
- Tap Print Release.
- Select the jobs you wish to print and hit the print button.
When your print jobs are complete, tap the Log out button in the top right-hand corner of the PaperCut main menu to log out. The device will automatically log out a user after 60 seconds of inactivity.
