Join us, along with KFPL St. Lawrence College Libraries, and Massey Library, Royal Canadian Military College/ Bibliothèque Massey, Collège militaire royal du Canada on Mon Feb 23 at 6pm for a free movie screening of "The Librarians" and a panel discussion at The Screening Room.

This event kicks off Freedom to Read Week, and the panel will include Mark Asberg, Vice Provost and University Librarian, Queen's University, Laura Carter, CEO and Chief Librarian, and Krishna Burra, Director of Education, Limestone School Board District. Moderated by Megan Hamilton.

"The Librarians": In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.

Refreshments will be available for purchase from concessions.
