On Thursday, contractors for the university will lift a new cooling tower to the roof of Douglas Library by crane on University Avenue south of Union Street.
This leaves the front doors of Douglas inaccessible. The university also has approval from the city to temporarily close University Ave from Union Street to Stuart Street, along with the temporary closure of the sidewalk in front of Douglas Library to complete this work.
For these reasons, Douglas Library will be closed on Thursday, April 10. If possible, it will re-open for study at approximately 4:30 pm. Otherwise we will resume regular hours the following day.
For those looking for study space, Stauffer remains open across the square, as well as our other library locations across campus.
The alternate date for this work is Friday, April 11 - if weather/lift conditions are not suitable on April 10.
We look forward to welcoming you back after this important work is completed, which should improve everyone’s experience in Douglas Library going forward.
